GrasSoup
GRASSOUP (one word)
Serves 4
Juice of two to three English cucumbers (no pulp)
1-2 cups fresh silky almond milk (recipe in Back to the House of Health 2)
Water of one (or two) Young Thai Coconuts (drain water out of coconut, water
should be clear and sweet, eat the meat of the coconut later)
1TB of fresh Dill cut in small individual grass-like pieces so when it's added
to soup, it floats on top and looks like grass shavings
Sprinkle of dehydrated red bell pepper powder over the top (optional and made
beforehand)
Directions: This is a new silky RAW recipe that I developed for people while
they are on the cleanse (liquid feast) and it will also become your favorite
soup to sip on even after the cleanse. Great and refreshing around the pool on a
hot day. The fresh cut dill floating on the top of this gorgeous pastel green
soup gives it the appearance of grass shavings, hence the name GRASSOUP!
Sprinkle dehydrated red bell pepper powder across the top for an instant splash
of warm color and an extra sweet pizzazz! Mmmmm I could drink this EVERY day!
For dehydrated red bell pepper powder , simply place sliced pieces of red bell
pepper in dehydrator (about 1 /4 inch thick) and dry until snap crisp (about 24
hours) Then place in Vita mix and grind to a fine powder. Keep in a Tupperware
or air tight container.. great for a garnishing tool, to add color and sweet
flavor over soups, wraps, or salads. YUM! I even eat this by the spoonful for a
treat! Serve and drink immediately.. Heavenly!!! Adjust each ingredient to your
taste.. if you want a less creamy soup, less almond milk. if you want more of a
sweet soup, add more coconut water and red bell pepper powder.. experiment.

What is the difference
between a healing crisis
and a disease crisis?
Taken in part from Dr. Bernard Jensen’s book Guide
to Better Bowel Care
THE
HEALING CRISIS
If you diligently followed a tissue-cleansing
program, are following a healthy diet, and continue to live a healthy lifestyle,
you will at some time experience what is known as a healing crisis. A healing
crisis is nothing to fear. On the contrary, this type of crisis is what you have
been working for, and you ought to welcome it.
A healing crisis is a blessing in disguise. It
is the result of an industrious effort by every organ in the body to eliminate
waste products, and it sets the stage for the regeneration of weakened tissues.
The healing crisis conforms with Hering’s Law of Cure and is a natural result
of it. Through a constructive and healthful process involving cleansing, good
nutrition, and improved lifestyle, old tissues are replaced with new.
The healing crisis is called a crisis because
it makes you feel as if your acute condition has returned. You experience the
same symptoms you had when your condition was at its worst. In a disease crisis,
you also experience these symptoms, but the symptoms are due to tissue breakdown
and dysfunction, not renewed tissue activity and waste elimination.
Elimination is the most important difference
between a healing crisis and a disease crisis. As part of its preparation for
the healing crisis, the body eliminates toxic wastes including chemicals and
drugs. Drugs are suppressive and may cause iatrogenic disease (a conditon
brought on by a caretaker’s diagnostic procedures or treatment), which only
compounds the original problem. More frequently, they cause patients to suffer
annoying new symptoms, so-called side-effects. Physicians all too often then
prescribe additional medications for the side effects.
Another
sign of a healing crisis is that prior to and during the crisis, bowel
elimination is very good. The bowel movements are natural and occur without
difficulty. All the elimination organs do their part. In a disease crisis,
elimination is usually not very good
before the crisis and is unsatisfactory or
stops completely during the crisis.
In a healing crisis, catarrh and waste that
have been stored in the body are eliminated. The crisis is the final purifying
process as the last of the waste is liquefied and thrown off. In a disease
crisis, catarrh is not eliminated, and mucus is old, thick, chronic and
congestive.
Both healing and disease crises can come
without warning. In general, you will know you are going through a healing
crisis if you felt wonderful in the days prior to its onset. A healing crisis
comes as an explosion, so to speak. It comes on suddenly, out of the blue, just
as you are feeling your best. You will wonder how it could have come on so
suddenly just when you seemed to have put your health problems behind you.
A healing crisis comes after the exchange of
old tissue for new has been completed. It comes only when there is enough energy
and activity available to the body as a result of the old, debilitated tissue
being replaced with new. The old tissue has spent itself, and the new tissue,
built from life-giving foods as well as through health-building processes, is
strong and vital. When the body has regained its strength, it cleans house and
violently throws off old wastes in the form of a healing crisis.
To achieve regeneration of tissue, the body
must pass through three stages. These three stages are the elimination, the
transitional, and the building stages. The healing crisis usually occurs near
the end of the transitional stage, which is when the new tissue has matured
sufficiently to take on the function of a more perfect body.
Healing crises usually last about three days.
They start with a slight discomfort, which quickly increases in severity until
the point of complete expulsion is reached. During a healing crisis, a person
may suffer old symptoms more severely than ever before. The person must “wait
out” the crisis while continuing to follow a health-building path. Yielding to
the temptation to resort to medications during this acute period will serve only
to suppress the symptoms. The person will then have to again go through the
crisis at a later time in order to be well.
Following the acute stage of the healing
crisis, the discomfort diminishes. If the person’s energy is low, the crisis
sometimes lasts for a week or more. Healing crises affect patients with stronger
vitality and greater energy more profoundly. Persons whose energy is too low do
not have a healing crisis. Such persons must work to rebuild their health and
energy until their bodies can manifest a crisis. Be assured that nature will not
allow a healing crisis to take place before its appointed time.

Gut Bacteria Help Determine Body Weight
The world is dominated by microorganisms such as bacteria and yeast. In our
own bodies, for example, microbial cells outnumber human cells by about 10 to 1.
While we often view microorganisms as the cause of illness and disease,
scientists have discovered that most are not harmful and many are beneficial. An
understanding of how these ‘friendly’ microscopic guests contribute to human
health should provide exciting new platforms for disease therapy.
Jeffrey I. Gordon, MD and colleagues at Washington University in St. Louis
study the physiological benefits of the microbiota--the term given to the
collection of trillions of microorganisms living in the gut. Most recently, as
reported in two papers published in the December 21 2006 issue of Nature, Gordon
and co-workers established a link between the microbiota and obesity. They
propose that obesity may be, at least in part, related to the ability of the
microbiota of obese individuals to extract more calories from food.
The group first demonstrated that the microbiota of obese mice differed
significantly from that of their lean counterparts. In lean mice, bacteria
belonging to the Bacteroidetes division make up approximately 40% of the
bacterial community. In obese mice, about half of these bacteria were
selectively lost (Ley et al. 2005 PNAS 102). More importantly, a microbiota from
an obese mouse transplanted into a lean recipient was sufficient to cause a
significant increase in total body fat, due to enhanced calorie harvest by the
transplanted microbiota (Turnbaugh et al. 2006 Nature 444).
The researchers also tested whether these findings in the mouse could be
extended to human obesity. As with the mouse, a study of 12 obese human
volunteers revealed that the relative number of Bacteroidetes was significantly
decreased when compared to lean volunteers. In the same study, obese volunteers
who ate a calorie-restricted diet showed a marked recovery of Bacteriodetes that
was dependent on weight loss (Ley et al. 2006 Nature 444).
These studies indicate that there may be a microbial component to obesity,
and if so, probiotics (the use of bacteria to promote health) may be a future
approach to weight loss. However, there remain several key issues to be resolved
before such therapeutic potential is explored. For example, in humans, it is
unclear whether the bacterial composition of the gut determines, or is the
determined by, body weight. Furthermore, it is difficult to predict whether the
modest changes in caloric extraction between obese and lean people will
translate into meaningful weight loss. Nonetheless, these studies do suggest
that factors other than diet, exercise and
genetics may play a role in the
growing epidemic of obesity.

EVCO
(Extra Virgin Coconut Oil)
Answer
(Published January 24, 2007)
The safest moisturizer that I
recommend is pure coconut
oil. It is inexpensive and all natural - the important point that
needs to be understood is that anything applied to the skin is absorbed by the
body and processed through the organs.
Think twice before you apply any topical lotions or your body will absorb
moisturizers to your skin!

The
Truth About Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is truly the healthiest oil you can consume. It is rich
in lauric acid, which is known for being antiviral, antibacterial and anti
fungal, and contains no trans
fat (even olive oil has some trans fat). You can even use it on your skin to
help prevent wrinkles.
Unfortunately, there is a widespread misconception that coconut oil is bad
for you because it contains saturated fat. To really understand the benefits of
coconut oil, I suggest you read Dr. Mary Enig and Sally Fallon's article "The
Truth About Saturated Fat" to first dispel any lingering notions you
may have that all saturated fats are dangerous.
Fats are categorized as either short-, medium-, or long-chain depending on
how many carbon molecules they contain. Close to two-thirds of the saturated fat
in coconut oil is made up of medium-chain fatty acids, which have antimicrobial
properties, are easily digested by the body for quick energy, and are beneficial
to the immune system. Far from being dangerous, the saturated fat in coconut oil
is actually health promoting.
So how could an oil that is so good for you have gotten such a bad
reputation? The answer comes down to simple economics and politics. Based on
some flawed studies performed over four decades ago, some of which used
primarily hydrogenated coconut oils, a powerful anti-saturated fat movement
began. Remember--hydrogenated oils are oils with trans-fatty
acids, which have been altered from their original chemical composition and
have been shown to raise cholesterol levels and lead to heart disease and other
health problems. You should not consume hydrogenated oils, whether it is coconut
or another vegetable oil.
Around this time the edible oil industry began to denounce all saturated fats
and heavily promote polyunsaturated fats such as canola,
soybean, safflower, corn, and other seed and nut oils. However, these oils
easily become rancid when exposed to oxygen and produce large amounts of
damaging free radicals in the body. What is not commonly known is that these
oils can actually cause aging, clotting, inflammation, cancer and weight gain.
You can read the article "Secrets
of the Edible Oil Industry" for more information.
Fortunately, coconut oil has begun to gain some positive media exposure as
researchers realize its health-promoting qualities. However, coconut oil can
vary widely in terms of the types of coconuts used, the manufacturing processes
used to make the oil, and more, and all of these factors play a major role in
the effectiveness of the oil.
Most commercial coconut oils are RBD (refined, bleached, and deodorized). RBD
oils do
|
contain the medium chain fatty acids, however they also contain
chemicals used in processing.
Because of these variations my team and I here researched coconut oil
extensively until we found the ideal source. I now highly recommend and offer
you what is clearly the premier brand of virgin coconut oil in the United
States, Fresh Shores.
This virgin coconut oil is not only certified organic, but it also met all our
other requirements, including no GMO ingredients, bleaching, deodorizing,
refining or hydrogenation. Tropical Traditions also uses fresh coconuts (not
"copra" or dried coconuts like most oils) that come from a rural
region of the Philippines untainted by urban pollution.
I urge you to try this virgin
coconut oil and experience the health benefits for yourself. If you do
choose another brand, please be sure that it meets these requirements.

Coconut oil for your skin
Report from a user:
I have dry skin on my whole body (though it is steadily
improving as I improve my diet). The driest part of my body seems to be my face,
especially if I wash it with a harmful commercial soap.
The absolute best thing
I've found to use is Coconut oil. I only ever buy the Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (EVCO),
so that's what I use.
If I don't use it, my skin becomes flaky, and looks very
obviously dry. It will burn and itch in the worst cases (Colorado is a pretty
dry state). Coconut oil has never let me down, and my face almost seems to be
addicted to it. Nothing else I've tried compares....

Clay Montmorillonite
Clay
'In the beginning God
gave to every people...a cup of clay; and, from this cup...they drank their
life'.
We have long heard of people eating clay known as either 'geophagy'
(pronounced...gee-off-uh-gee), or, 'pica'. Taber's Cyclopedia Medical Dictionary
defines geophagy as 'a condition in which the patient eats inedible substances
such as chalk, or earth'. And, it defines pica as 'a perversion of
appetite with cravings for substances not fit for food such as clay, ashes or
plaster'.
This craving I perceive is not perverted at all; but, makes sense when you know
what clay contains and what it does for the skin. It has been credited with
improving the skin of many people suffering from a wide range of challenges.
These include: skin ailments such as eczema and acne, dry skin, oily skin,
rashes, sores, bruises, skin discoloration or spots on skin, moles, dandruff and
even hair-loss, just to name a few.
Clay provides an impressive assortment of minerals, including calcium, iron,
magnesium, potassium, manganese, sodium and silica -- all alkalizing to the skin
and foundational in the production of other elements through nuclear
transformations or biological transformations.
In a clay mineral the elements of oxygen, silica, and potassium are spheres
arranged in a regular three-dimensional pattern. The spheres are the
building-blocks of the clay minerals; and, the arrangement of the spheres
determines the type of mineral. The character of the clay mineral group
determines the type of clay and its eventual use. In other words, the clay
mineral structure gives an understanding of its specific properties.
Among the clays suitable for eating, is Montmorillonite, the most common and the
most sought-after. Montmorillonite clay was named after the town of Montmorillon,
France where it was first identified. The mineral clay belongs to
a group of clays known as smectite, a word that describes its layered structure.
The smectites are one of seven clay mineral groups. Each group contains a
certain number of species and variations on the layered structure.
The clay that I recommend for skin and hair care only is structured in a single
silica tetrahedron and is the main building-block of Montmorillonite clay and
the best clay for the body.
Montmorillonite Clay is an old Home-Remedy that people have used since the
beginning of time for various reasons. And it is my personal belief that
Montmorillonite Clay was possibly the Manna that was given to the children of
Israel by God as they wandered through the wilderness for 40 years.
Its origins are as simple and basic as the old practice of putting mud on a bee
sting, spider bite, or snake bite. Montmorillonite Clay comes from deposits near
Montmorillon, France and is also found in Redmond, Utah. Geologically speaking,
Montmorillonite clay is a volcanic ash which was deposited in sea water. By
modern definition it is a swelling-type clay in its 'natural' state with no
additives, chemicals or preservatives. The only processing it undergoes is
crushing.
What Makes Montmorillonite Clay So Special?
The Montmorillonite Clay minerals occur in very small or colloidal particles.
They are extremely fine-grained and thin-layered...more so than any of the other
clay minerals. The layers contain ions that are very loosely, bound to one
another...and, easily exchangeable. Not only will acidic toxins stick to its
outside surface; but, numerous toxic elements and organic matter on the skin or
hair will enter the space between the layers.
In addition to its already unique structure, Montmorillonite Clay has a
particularly large surface area when properly hydrated with distilled
water...which further boosts its adsorptive and absorptive properties. These two
words look alike but their difference is critical in understanding the functions
of Montmorillonite Clay minerals. Adsorption characterizes the process by which
substances stick to the outside surface of the adsorbent medium. The clay
possesses unsatisfied ionic bonds around the edges of its mineral particles.
It naturally seeks to satisfy those bonds. For this to happen it must meet with
a substance carrying an opposite electrical or ionic charge. When this occurs,
the ions held around the outside structural units of the adsorbent medium and
the substance are exchanged.
The particles of Montmorillonite Clay carry a negative, electrical charge;
whereas, impurities or toxins carry a positive electrical charge. For this very
reason Montmorillonite Clay has been used to adsorb the colloidal impurities
(alcohol and other exotoxins and mycotoxins) in beer, wine, liquor, and cider.
The impurities in wine carry positive charges; and, can be chelated or
coagulated (bound together) and removed by stirring a small amount of
negatively-charged Montmorillonite Clay material into the wine or beer. The clay
particles attract the mycotoxins or alcohol in the wine or beer and they settle
to the bottom of the bottle or glass together.
The process works the same on the skin or hair. When Montmorillonite Clay is
placed on the skin the positively-charged exotoxins and mycotoxins are attracted
by the negatively-charged edges of the clay mineral. An exchange reaction
occurs; whereby, the clay swaps its ions for those of the other substance. Now
electrically satisfied it holds the acidic toxin in suspension until the clay is
washed off the skin or hair with warm water.
The term 'active' or 'alive' indicates the ionic exchange capacities of a given
clay mineral. The degree to which the clay mineral ions become active determine
its classification as 'alive'. Living bodies are able to grow and change their
form and function by taking within themselves 'lifeless' material of certain
kinds; and, biologically transforming it into a part of themselves. No dead body
can adsorb just as no dead battery can provide energy. It is, physically
impossible. That is why Montmorillonite Clay is such a powerful skin and
hair care product.
If you have never used clay before and plan on using it for the first time on
your skin expect a REAL TREAT! Here are some testimonies from people after
using the
Young pHorever Montmorillonite Clay for four weeks:
* No more skin rashes
* No more acne
* No more dandruff
* NEW AND, INCREASED HAIR GROWTH!!!
* Less 'wandering-pain' all over my body
* Clearer skin
* Enhanced growth and tissue repair of gums and skin
* Softer skin
* No more brown spots on my skin
* Skin is less dry and feels more hydrated
* After soaking my feet in a water bath of clay no more toe fungus
* My skin feels tighter and younger
* The wrinkles on my face seemed to disappear
* The redness on my face is almost gone after all these years
* It soothed my skin and took away the redness from a sunburn
* Great for bee stings, spider bites and mosquitoes bites
|
Clay........IT IS
ALIVE!!!!!............
Chemically and structurally Montmorillonite Clay is shaped like a credit card
with negative charges on the flat surface and positive charges at the edges.
Therefore, the negative charge is many times more
powerful than the positive
charge. One gram of Montmorillonite Clay has a surface area of 800 square
meters. To give that some serious perspective that's about ten football fields!
The greater the surface area of the clay the greater the power to pick up
positively-charged particles or acidic toxins on the skin many times its own
weight.
If we go back to our base physical components we can safely say that we are
built from multitudes of particles (from dust you are and to dust you will
return) held together by electrical bonds. Electrical forces are what hold atoms
and molecules together. Chemical bonds and reactions depend on the electrical
forces. Therefore, all chemical reactions are in essence reorganization of
electrical forces which continue to be vital at body levels, i.e., tissues and
organs. When this is all taken into account a living organism is shown to be an
extremely intricate electrical system.
During states of imbalance the vital life-force is weak and incapable of
supporting the body and its functions. In states of balance however the opposite
occurs: the life-force or 'zeta potential' is strong and able to counteract the
state of imbalance (or, should I say spoiling and rotting). What keeps the white
blood cells moving and doing their work of clearing out toxins is the energy
that feeds it, the substance of life - the 'zeta potential'. The body will not
run well; or, will at least run with all sorts of mechanical problems when there
is no life-force energy or 'zeta potential' to support it.
When Montmorillonite Clay is put on the skin its vital life-force or 'zeta
potential' is released into the dermis of the skin; and, mingles with the vital
life-force of the body creating a stronger, more powerful energy in the host.
Its, colloidal particles are agents of stimulation and transformation capable of
withholding and releasing energy at impulse. The natural magnetic action
transmits a remarkable power to the organism and helps to rebuild vital
'potential' through the liberation of latent energy. When it is in contact with
the body its very nature compels it to release its vital force: the, vital force
from which so many plants and animals feed.
Therefore, in order to create healthly skin and hair the body MUST BE STIMULATED
and, stimulated by another working energy like Montmorillonite Clay!
When the white cells, the garbage collectors of our body fluids do not function
at their best the Montmorillonite Clay supports the body's outer resources (the
skin) to awaken the stagnant energy by binding exotoxins and mycotoxins on the
surface of the skin or hair. It also supplies the body with the available
magnetism to run WELL! In this way the body's natural immune system has an
improved chance of restoring the alkaline pH by removing morbid matter and
acidic toxins from the skin or hair thereby maintaining a healthy balance.
How is Montmorillonite Clay Used in the Normal Old Home-Remedies?
The Montmorillonite Clay has a consistency of mustard and is ready to use or it
can be mixed in water. Old-Timers would apply the gel/paste directly to the
skin for a drawing-effect as in the case of a bee sting, mosquito bite, boil,
spider bite, stinging nettle, etc. If the clay is not covered it will dry out;
and, as it dries you will feel it draw and pull. If you want a tightening-effect
as in the case of a facial for acne, pimples, or minor cuts leave it on until it
is almost, but not totally dry. Then remove with a warm wet washcloth and,
splash with warm water to remove all traces of the clay. If you want an even
more 'cooling and soothing effect' such as for burns or scrapes and bruises;
cover the gel with a plastic covering or wet cloth so that it won't dry out. If
users were not sure which technique would suit their needs best they often
alternated between covered and uncovered applications of the clay.
Montmorillonite Clay has been applied once or twice daily or even left in place
on the skin overnight, as desired.
Other external uses for the Montmorillonite Clay have been as a fine talcum
powder or a diapering powder.
Instructions for using Young pHorever Montmorillonite Clay:
There are many different ways of using the Montmorillonite Clay externally; but,
most all start out with the gel. Make the gel about the consistency of
mayonnaise or mustard by mixing 2 parts water with 1 part Montmorillonite Clay.
Apply generously in a ½ inch to ¾ inch layer directly onto the skin. An
alternative that allows for more mobility is to apply the Clay on a piece of
'cheese cloth'; and, fold the cloth as if making a 'burrito'. Secure to
the skin with an 'Ace' bandage. After applying there are several options:
Uncovered: Some people apply the Montmorillonite Clay leaving it uncovered
allowing it to dry. As it dries it will 'draw' or 'pull'. Remove before
the clay is totally dry.
Covered with Cloth: Covering the Montmorillonite Clay with a
cloth will secure it to the desired spot and cause the clay to dry more slowly.
Doing this enables you to leave the clay in place overnight or to be able to be
mobile during the day without the clay transferring to clothing and household
furniture. Wetting the cloth with water will slow the drying rate and increase
the 'cooling sensation'. Again remove the clay pack before it is totally
dry; and, replace it with a fresh application of Montmorillonite Clay gel, if
desired.
Covered with Plastic: Covering the Montmorillonite Clay with plastic wrap
or a plastic bag keeps the clay from drying at all which is the desired effect
if you are applying it to a burn. Even though the clay will not dry when
covered with plastic some people prefer to replace it twice daily. Other people
have found that even leaving the pack in tact on a burn for two or three days
will produce beautiful new 'pink skin'.
Using the Dry Montmorillonite Clay: People say using it as a baby powder
causes diaper rash to disappear before the next diaper change. Some people
have reported a 'drawing-healing action' when the clay is applied to an open
infected wound.
